Some visitors to Barbados are content to spend their entire holiday sitting on one of our beaches, watching waves break over the distant reefs. But if you do choose to turn your gaze inland, there is a world amusement and adventure awaiting you; experience it’s extraordinary variety on an unhurried drive around the island – a pleasant half-day of shunpiking that will take you across verdant cane fields, under canopies of dense vegetation, past our faithfully restored plantation houses. Tour one of those houses, sample one of the local rum drinks, and talk to a vendor or fisherman… mingle!
 

For golfers, there are a number of courses on the island – including two that are ranked amongst the best in the world. For racing enthusiasts, there are three highly competitive seasons at the Garrison Savannah every year, and you don’t have to know the first thing about horse racing to get swept into the action. As every cricket fan knows, the Cricket World Cup final is being held on Barbados in April 2007 and dozens of pick-up games spring up across the island on a daily basis. There’s also polo, and windsurfing, and tennis.
